Great observation and question. I hope they answer it. Sheesh, the last thing Salt Lake City needs is more nightlife with more people driving drunk on the streets.

Thanks, Candace.

Last Sunday, Channel 2 hosted a debate between the candidates, and an edited version of my question was aired. Each of the top four candidates were given an opportunity to respond.

I appreciate the efforts of all involved, but I am afraid that my point was not well understood. It is probably my fault. So, I plan to write a follow-up to better explain where I am coming from as soon as I have a free moment. (I just wish that I was as gifted and prolific of a writer as you!)

Until then, I suggest that the curious read a thoughtful critique of my position by Professor Les Roka on his blog Selective Echo. You can reach his article by copying and pasting the following URL:

Thanks, my friend,
A.W.

My LORD AW, you have some anger issues don't you.

I don't suppose it has occurred to you that more vitalized urban areas bring more people who come NOT just to get drunk.

Have you ever been to Italy, Paris, Rome, Boston?

These towns are NOT full of drunks at night. THAT is more common in small towns.

I'm betting you think New York City nightlife is about getting drunk too.

You could not be more wrong.

Perhaps you should get out more.

Love Cliff
